its nearly impossible to control humidity in a outdoor open top set up. I’m just fortunate to live in the south, walking distance from a large body of water. I essentially live in a swamp lol. If he has to be outside just keep the substrate wet and soak him a lot. But you’ll never achieve 80%+...
They can 100% “expire” id recommend getting a tester. You can get the most out of your bulbs that way and not have to guess when it’s time to replace. I’ve also heard of some bulbs being weak out of the box so that’s another good reason.
I recently changed my baby Sulcatas enclosure and just wanted to get some feedback. I have read the care sheets and tried my best to replicate what’s works based off yalls experience. The substrate is 4-6 inches deep throughout the set up. Humidity has been consistently 60-90% temps 78-100+ I...
it’s the 2nd smallest crocodilian species. He’ll get to be 4-6 ft long. There’s 2 types of “dwarf caiman” but IMO there’s nothing dwarf about them as adults.
Hey forum! I was just curious about what other reptiles some members on her may currently keep/ used to keep. Although the tortoise may be my favorite animal on earth my caiman is a close second. I’ve really been enjoying this forum and love seeing pictures/ backstorys behind everyone’s animals...
Looks like a stain from a food source/ substrate or something else. Have you tried putting water on the area? My Sulcatas whole head will stain a greenish/ brown color depending on what I feed him and how much water the food contains.
I noticed a extra scute on the rear end of my tort. Is this just cosmetic or could it lead to problems in the future since it’s located above his hind leg? I wasn’t made aware of this when ordering him but I don’t mind, I just want to make sure it won’t be a issue in the future. I was also...
This is his current setup, I also let him walk outside his enclosure for a few hours a day, he likes to munch on clovers and Bermuda grass. My humidity hasn’t dropped below 75% in his enclosure yet. I haven’t seen any foaming of the mouth or any other signs of dehydration. He honestly seems to...
Humidity ranges from 45% during the day and 85% at night. Temps get down to 80 at night. I mist his enclosure in the morning and throughout the day when needed so I’m not concerned with humidity too much. I’m more concerned about the temperature being too hot even in his hide. He has access to...
Hello forum! I have been keeping my Sulcata baby outdoors in the Texas heat for the last month. Temperatures get above 100 degrees everyday. He has plenty of shade and I soak him 3 times a day. I was wondering if there is anything I should keep a eye on or pay special attention too. He is very...
