Is this normal for a Desert Tortoise?

Thank you for the advice. I switch up between pellets, green/red leaf lettuce, dandelion leaves and flowers, cucumbers, endives and spinach. I started growing a little patch of grass ... once it grows a few inches I’ll transfer it into his enclosure.

Can anyone help identify my tortoise?

This is definitely a desert tortoise. I have one that wondered into my backyard last summer. He was covered in ants when we found him. I took to the vet and he give the little guy a shot. He advised me to keep inside a few days and to contact my local tortoise group. Here in Nevada you can keep...

    Hibernating a Desert Tortoise

Hi ... Since I don’t have an extra fridge I was planning on keeping him in one of our rooms. I’m going to close the vent so it will stay cool in there. The temp hasn’t dropped below 85 during the day and the lows are at 65 - 70. We are suppose to get cold front at the beginning of next so I’m...

    Small green patches

UPDATE: the little green patches turned to be normal skin patches. They eventually went away. I stopped giving him a warm bath for a week so that helped to clear up the patches. I now soak him every 2 to 3 days. Thank you again everyone for your help. I do have a question: how do I know when my...

    Small green patches

I don’t mind at all .... he was walking through my backyard. At the time I think he was about 3 or 4 months old. It’s around March/April. I have him some water and a piece of kale. He started showing up more and more. He attacked by ants in May so we decided to make him an outdoor enclosure. I...
