I have a very unfortunate update. We are sad to say we have had to let Peggy go. After her good day she began to deteriorate (we stopped the antibiotics because we thought they were making her worse.) she began to just sit in the tortoise table or garden with her head in and not moving around...
She does open her eyes but when the other hatchlings walk around her she doesn’t really know what’s going on it’s only the noise that makes her put her head in.
Yeah she is gaining just as much weight as the others. It’s lovely to see that she is doing well we were so worried that she wasn’t happy but she has gotten so much better :)
Yes she has eaten twice a day since we started hand feeding her. I think the reason she looks swollen is because her eyes are so tiny and we are certain that she cannot see.
She is doing well and loving the outside when we take her out. I think she just prefers to be outside. We are sure that she is blind and have been hand feeding her, which is working out perfect. Hopefully soon she’ll know what her food smells and tastes like so she can eat it by herself.
Update! So we had Peggy booked in to be out to sleep today as she hasn’t been responsive for The past few days. We decided to bring her into the garden in an area to just give her a chance to see the outfit world. Since then she has been moving around non stop and has perked up again. Vet...
A bit of a sad update on Peggy. She’s has gone a bit downhill and still isn’t eating anything by herself. We think that there could be something going on internally we’re going to give her another chance to improve and hope things get better.
It’s just like a powder that we have to make up which has the nutrients she needs in it. Because of her legs she is struggling to break apart the food. We know she has to do stuff for herself but whilst she’s getting better I think it’s best that we help her a little.
There was a grey mucus like liquid in her egg and she hasn’t been eating. We did not see what the tortoise specialist did but I believe that what she thinks is best for out tortoise is correct.
Ah thank you for telling me I will post it on there now. The vet has diluted the antibiotics just for her and she will be having them every 3 days via injection. We haven’t been able to go in with her due to COVID but that is what we’ve been told. We have already seen some improvements so things...
After taking Peggy to the vets today they have said that she could possibly have an infection. But there’s still hope! She is being given antibiotics and we’re giving her special food. Things are definitely looking up and I just want to say thank you everyone for all your advice.
