Just got back from the vet...
They trimmed his beak and he did great, he is so much happier already! And he is actually not a he... he is a she!!! I'm stickin with George tho! hehe
The vet said it was REALLY long and likely from his.. I mean her.. diet.
I rescued him 9 months ago, he was...
I'm feeding him a big variety of dark leafy greens, weeds, he has a cuttlebone, calcium supplement. I never cut any of it up. I just got back from the vet and I feel sick at how much was trimmed from his beak, how long it was and how it should have been.. ugh. I rescued him 9 months ago and...
Oh really? Been doing this over 9 months, he has always seemed happy / no issues.
Just spoke to vet - sent a pic..you are correct
Any tips on how to avoid this?
Hey all..
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.
2 issues i'd love anyones thoughts on.
Firstly - I just noticed the side of George's mouth looks like it has a laceration. Not sure if it needs to be looked at by a vet / treated? Thoughts?
Incl. in pics is the other side of his face for...
you are quite possibly the most interesting man in the world... I love all of your experience and knowledge you share. We are also contemplating a beardie! How was having a Tegus?
Hey all
Happy friday!!!
I tried searching the forum and can't find anything definitive, so to any socal folk.. i'd love you forever for some guidance :p
This is my first winter with my RT. I"m in los angeles and I keep my guy outdoor during the day and indoor at night.. as the weather cools...
He is doing great this am. Thanks for the advice and well wishes! Scared the hell out of me!!!
@wellington.. great suggestion with the rocks, i'll give that a try :)
I just went out to George's outdoor enclosure to bring him in for the night, and he was flipped over in his water dish (terracotta plant saucer firmly planted down in substrate). He somehow moved it, and my guess is he was trying to climb the fence and flipped. I'm going to move dish away from...
that looks amazing!!! Nice job
I see a lot of pics without tops on outdoor enclosures... i'm building one now (live in southern california) and will bring him in at night, does anyone have feedback on if a secured top is needed?
George is doing awesome guys.... coming out of hide, eating, basking... livin la vida loca ;)
Thanks for all the suggestions - I appreciate it so much
xo
lol.. No, I'm not bringing him.. I think it will do more bad than good - a smaller travel enclosure, driving up a windy mountain, in a higher altitude and there will be a ton of screaming kids... I wish I could just stay home and send them ;).
I do have my kiddie cam on him ?.. and his lights...
You're so sweet. ☺
he hasn’t eaten anything / no water in 2 days. Still in his hide but he is now facing outwards and his legs are out, he’s been face first body covered... so baby steps I hope. I just gave him some fresh food ?
His enclosure is exactly how it has been for the last 7 years - which is why i'm not convinced its the enclosure.. but yes i'm working on rebuilding it (following tips from Tom's care sheet he linked up) I didn't want to do all the change the first week I had him, was hoping he would acclimate a...
Well yes i do think it's very hot, sadly that is how I got him when i adopted him and that is how they kept it
I DID change his lights / heat Immediately the day after I got him (2 weeks ago) I was stating the one thing I had changed in hopes it could help paint the whole picture
