I looked at pictures of the underside of tortoises. The points I saw are just part of the shell. I now know I need to wait alot longer before I will know the sex. I plan to only have one tortoise. Right now it lives in an indoor habitat that has a controlled environment. I hope to be able to...
My tortoise is now about 10 months old. I have noticed some growth on it's back end, just beside the hind leg. I have a picture. Is this a sex organ that will tell me the sex of my tortoise?
I have my 3 RS turtles in a rubber pond used for inground ponds. It is 1200 gallons that is half full so the turtles can't climb out. The cost of the pond is less than for a metal stock tank. The turtles do very well in it, they have a basking spot and are under a roof cover for shade in the hot...
My red slider has been raised from birth in an aquarium in my home. It has heated water. It is now about 6" in size and is big enough to join my other red sliders in their outdoor pond. The pond is about 1000 gallons and about 20" deep. There is a place for the turtles to get out of the water...
I have 6 turtles, 5 red sliders and one box turtle. I have 2 red sliders babies in an aquarium in the house, and 3 red sliders in an outdoor pond. The box turtle has her own outdoor pen.
I like the idea of a 2 story. Will it work for a box turtle? I think plexiglass sides may work to keep in the humidity. I use that for my hermit crabs and it keeps up the humidity no problem. I have small openings so there is good air exchange.
I give my box turtles live meal worms and he/she comes over to me as soon as I open the top of the enclosure. They love to hunt down the worms. I also gave flower topper from ZooMed and rose petals, chamamile buds, along with the turtle chow.
I offer fresh veggies but have difficulty getting...
I have used Pothouse plants in my aquariums for years along with other potted water plants and have not had problems with fouled water. But my baby red slider tears up the pothouse. So I will get your plant suggestions for my indoor aquariums and outdoor ponds. Thanks
I have had to treat both box turtles with eye drops to add vitamins A per my vet's advise. I also put a crocheted blanket over their outdoor pen so now they get dappled sunlight instead of the harsh sun glare of southwest Texas. I hope this helps with their puffy eyelids.
I have pine shavings...
I have desert and a common box turtle. My vet says they need their beaks ground down so they can eat. Should they get a cuddle bone to keep their beaks worn down?
