    Leopard Tortoise... Now in Sunburst!

http://baltimore.craigslist.org/pet/4188424359.html I didn't realize that Leopard Tortoises came in Guitar colorations now!

Petco Black Friday 50% off all Reptiles (that means tortoises!)

I know people don't have the best opinion of them, but as they have for the past 2 years, Petco will be selling all reptiles for 50% off on Black Friday. I bought Harper (my oldest Redfoot) 2 years ago at such a sale, and, after a little TLC and treatment for very minor shell rot, she is now the...

    More sexing fun

When Darwin was 4-5", I was thinking he was gonna be a male, but now that he's past 6" I'm not so sure. Thoughts?

    Gpb Gbb Hybridization

So, I'm familiar with the whole 1 or no spots = Gpb and 2 spots = Gpp for determining which type of Leopard you have. But what about Olive? I've noticed that some or her spots look like they could've been two, or were two and kind of off to the side of her scute. Most of her side spots are...

Mazuri Tortoise Feed - CHEAPEST PRICE EVER OFFERED - EXTREMELY LIMITED!!!

Hi all! Like most torts, my Redfoots and Leopard love Mazuri. At this point, they've gotten too big to make the 2lbs or 6lbs options offered by sellers worth my money, so I decided to opt for a full 25lbs bag. Thing is, my torts will never eat 25lbs worth of Mazuri before it goes bad, so I'm...

    Stubby tail!

I know that Olive was sex temped female, and she's still a bit young (not even 5" yet), but I swear this is the stubbiest tail I've ever seen.

    Another sexing thread

Since everyone loves to chime in on these threads, I decided to put Harper and Darwin up for review: Harper at 7.5". I'm pretty sure she's a girl at this point. Thick stubby tail. Typical anal scutes, etc: Darwin at 5.5". Still a little young to sex, but that tail is already stating to...

Tortoises: More or less popular than 2 years ago?

Maybe it's because I'm in the bubble, but it seems like tortoises have become much more popular pets in the past two years. What do you guys think? I'd love to hear from breeders and resellers since they'd probably know better than most :)

Harper and Darwin: Spring 2013 Udpate

It's been a while since I've posted any tortoise photos, and I since I was just given two plastic bags full of fruit, I figured why not take some glamour shots of my redfoots doing what they do best :) For context, Harper is now 7.5" and Darwin is 5.5"

    Attachment Space Increase?

Is there any way to increase the 100MB limit for attaching photos? I've had to delete photos several times but I'd like to keep them in there if possible because my old posts lose a bit of context. Thanks!

    Up all night.

Last weekend I bought a nice reptile-specific dome lamp for a couple bucks at a yard sale (you can never have too many, right? And I gotta hand it to zoomed/flukers/whoever, they have much more durable domes than the shop lights I buy at Walmart). It came with a little 40W red "night" light, so...

Is it just me or is this not a Russian Tortoise?

Someone has this posted as a Russian Tortoise on Craigslist. Is it just me or does this look like a Gopher Tortoise? Edit: Wait, he clearly states that this is a Gopher Tortoise. Time to tell him it's illegal.

These guys only get excited for one thing...

It's Mazuri time! They can smell it before it's even in their cage. For size reference, Harper (in the back) is nearly 7" and Darwin is a solid 5" now.

    Darwin: Then and Now Pics!

So I've had Darwin for just over a year now and wanted to show you some comparison pics. For your information, when I got Darwin he was about 2.5" long and now he is about 4.5" long. He's growing fast! On or near Day One: And Today: I love the last picture; he's in mid beak lick!

    An 8 inch Russian

I always read that Russians can get up to 8" shell length, but I've never actually seen one that large. I don't think I've seen one above 6", to be honest. Can anyone show me their big Russians!?

    Introducing Olive

Hey all! I'm usually on the Redfoot forum, but today a little bundle of joy was delivered to me by Eweezyfosheezy. She's (hopefully) is about 8 months old and very precious. Enjoy!

A little race to the bottom on Powersun's at Amazon.

Not entirely a repost, but I couldn't think of any better place to post this. I've been watching Zoomed Powersun 100 Watt prices for the past couple weeks because I'll need one soon. Because a lot of sellers are vying for top spot in the marketplace ranking, the price on these guys has dropped...

Two tortoises on the "100 most endangered species list"

Thought this was interesting: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/sep/11/100-most-endangered-species-planet?newsfeed=true I knew about the ploughshare tortoise, but this is actually the first time I've heard about a geometric tortoise.
