Obviously Eric has been being a complete annoying jerk.:tort: (I have a young female- I think? Hermann, named Tootsie). She is wonderful. :<3:
Very cool! You must not have any cats in the house. Mine wouldn't be able to resist poking holes in that set up. lol Looks like it will def keep humidity high though. I have never seen those yet. Good luck with your babies.
That is what I am using for my leopard hatchling. I have him in a 36X 18 terrarium with a powersun for day and the 50 watt CHE for night sitting on top of screen on a timer..seems to be maintaining temps & humidity perfectly.
Can I ask how do you present hay to her? Do you soften or it chop it up?I have tried to get my older one (9 years) to start eating orchard hay,but probably should've started earlier but he won't touch it. He likes cactus and greens mostly & plantains.
Hi! Your set up looks exactly like mine, down to the adorable leopard baby. Only diff is I don't have any plants in there. I tried that at first but they started dying I assume from the lighting or humidity so I removed them. It makes more room for baby to walk around anyways I guess, but I do...
Ok so I bought a b-grade tortoise from Tortoise Supply because I didn't care about his cosmetic perfection but they sent me a beat up old worn out poor baby, and even with good care he died within 2 weeks. beware.
Thanks! He eats quite a bit,but mainly just when it's really hot outside. During winter he sort of hibernates (indoors) and doesn't eat much at all.. He eats a lot of weeds & grass and I was last summer feeding him corn on cob (which he loves) till I found out it's bad for him so he doesn't get...
I'm no expert but I got one those Aerogardens and am growing spring mix in it and they (Hermann and Leopard juveniles) love that, along with the mazuri pellets. I also got some trays to grow wheatgrass in on amazon and its super easy and fun to grow. They eat a lot of that sprinkled on foods...
I have a little one just like that and I've never seen him do that. He always goes back in his hide after eating or basks for a while. Maybe he's just catching up on rest..hope nothing's wrong! Kevin-what a cute name for a tortoise! lol I'm trying to wait to name mine when I find out the sex but...
Yes I live in Tyler/Lindale area. I had my dates mixed up..we got Stoney late summer of 2011 so he is only 8 right now. I would appreciate any links you think I could use and will look for Tom's thread. We have been keeping him indoors in winter so far,but have been wondering what we will do as...
Hi. Well,he smokes a lot of weed. Naa,just kidding  Actually no particular reason..there's a local country music singer around here named that and I just thought it was cute. These big tortoises sorta look like a huge stone when they are sitting still in the yard. It is hard to come up...
Hi! Thanks! I just weighed him and he's 45 lbs. I have a wagon that we carry him around in when need be,and ramps on the doors. He lets himself in and out the porch in summer. He's been inactive living in the house all winter and this week its warming up here and he's starting to move around...
Awww! so cute! :<3: Mine always surprises me when he climbs over stuff I didn't think he could! lol He climbed in and made mincemeat outa my husbands rose garden.;) good thing my husband had his priorities straight, and didn't mind so much.
