Weather is about 12 degrees today and will continue for few days but then dropping again to about 7. Dont want him to wake and not have access to food etc.

Hi, first year of hibernating a marginated tortoise. When does he come out of hibernation? Should I be doing anything? Hes been tucked away now since end of October.
It's so hard to know what to do for the best. My worry is the temperature changes too. When should we put him away for hibernation? If we notice the temperature fluctuations too much can we move him or bring him out of hibernation?
We are planning to hibernate in the she as dont really have anywhere else to put him.
He has been hibernate since small so guessing we should continue that. His hutch has been moved into the shed and we was going to provide some insulation.

Oh ok. He seems to like basking under it. I've been looking for a reflector bulb but have no idea which one is the right one.

Update on Stanley. We now have a basking build which we put him under on miserable days. We bring him in for a little while then back outisde once hes done basking. The bulb we have is 100w infra red....is this one ok? Does he need UV for vit d or is this one sufficient enough?
On days like today, over cast temp lower is he ok out in the run or should he and put in his hutch. Moved hutch into shed....is this ok? His run still outside. Got cover and plenty of hay in it. Does he need a 100w or is 50w ok? He will have to go inside house for basking as currently dont have...

We do let him roam the garden when we are home to supervise as he heads for the plants and hides on the heather.
