All Testudo species are capable of hibernation

Point 1... Testudo graeca graeca do not come from morocco they come from Algeria... Testudo graeca marrokensis and testudo graeca soussesnsis come from morocco. Point 2.. Testudo graeca graeca do not spend an extended time in hibernation in the wild... They spend a matter of weeks if the...

Could anyone try to ID Bernard the tortoise for me please? :-)

DNA would be great... as the work that has already been done has proven there is no difference between Testudo graeca graeca and Testudo graeca whitei... which is why whitei will never be a recognised subspecies. Hence why it is a Testudo graeca graeca :) They do vary in appearance... some are...

    A few questions

Another way of looking at it... by the time you have spent the money... raising this tortoise to adulthood... you will never get the return to "make money" by breeding... there is also no money in breeding bearded dragons... and you can sometimes get left with babies that you then have to feed...

Health concerns about my 8 month old marginated tortoise

Hi Jenna... I also don't keep Marginated tortoises... but these questions are more about basic tortoise care rather than species specific so i am sure i can help you out... Don't worry about the bumps on the plastron they will grow out and be less noticible in time... the splitting is also...

    is this clover ok?

If eaten... its not a case that it is toxic and will immediately kill your tortoise... Oxalis can be eaten in very small amounts and will not harm... it is classed as a do not feed... due to it containing high concentrations of Oxalic acid... Just thought i would point that out in case some...

    Whos hibernating this year?

Only my Horsfields... who have already dug in outside... giving me not much choice unless i dig holes everywhere... None of the greeks or Hermanns will be... as its been such a crappy summer here in the UK... and some are underweight... they are now enjoying an artificial summer in the shed
