3 year old male Western Herman humping and bitting

Thank you Tom! I looked at my records last night and I see that the female is soon to be 5 years old, purchased from Chris. She is pushing 470 grams, I did not measure her but I will. Male is only 4 years old, purchased from Chris as well, he is around 280 grams. You are saying you put them...

3 year old male Western Herman humping and bitting

being that they are still pretty young, I would assume the eggs will not hatch even if it gets to that point? Also, once the new area is set up, assuming it is large enough and well decorated, all 5 should be OK together if carefully monitored and no signs of aggressive behavior takes place?

3 year old male Western Herman humping and bitting

Yep, I have a few ideas, I have a second identical enclosure I can set up fast, or I can temporary divide the current setup for the few days/week I will need to properly finish and dial in current project. We lost our 13 year old beagle last week, so no, I don't need nor do I want any more vet...

3 year old male Western Herman humping and bitting

3 year old male is starting to literally hump and bite his 2 females, they are all kept in a 48 inch enclosure but planning to move them outdoors this spring. Should I be concerned, watch them, or any suggestions? Aren't the females too young to lay eggs?

    DIY Cages: Critter Condo [48"X24"X24"]

I have a very similar version, https://reptilekages.com/ same size, and I am happy with it so far. The only thing that I did was replace the plexiglass windows with regular glass, the plexiglass gets scratched up quite easily.

One of the babies died suddenly

I did not even think about a necropsy, that is a good point. We buried it in the back yard but I can get to it. Assuming vets do that? I have them in a 48x24 encloure, temps go down to 70 at night, high 80's during the day, with mid 90's for the basking area.

One of the babies died suddenly

Yeah, I honestly have no idea and as you said, signs seem to be so subtle. She was a bit lethargic compared to the others 2 nights ago, but she ate. The rest of them eat really well today and are super active, they seem to be doing great, fingers crossed.

One of the babies died suddenly

My 5 torts from Chris have been doing great, but today one id dead. She was dead by the water container, and I am puzzled as to why? She was eating last night, although several nights ago she appeared lethargic and my wife found her once last week flipped over. The only change in the...

    Enclosure live plants ideas/thoughts

Are there any live plants that any of you have been able to successfully keep alive in your torts enclosure? I have some fake plants, would be cool to be able to have any live plants in there. Any suggestions?

Help needed - left western hermanns soaking overnight

Water was below the base of the shell height and they were in their enclosure, so water was cold ish but enclosure was in the high 70's. They are all basking now, and eating as well. Silly accident with a sick kid and my b-day today we lost track of things in the evening, we typically soak...
