    New bed for torty!

Hi, It is a mix of tortoise substrate which I have strained the limestone grit from as she eats it and coco coir. The substrate is a mix. I have seen the care sheet many times I was more after advice; but thank you!

    New bed for torty!

Hi all, I have invested in a new viv for Halloumi and she seems to love it. I tried it out yesterday and it was a bit warm (I realised I turned the thermostat the wrong way). I have only moved her in today. It does seem to get quite warm in there. I have a microclimate thermostat attached to...

    Lining a vivarium

Hi all, I have bought torty a vivarium, I am just awaiting the lighting and equipment to be delivered to set it up. I am conscious this is wood (vivexotic vivarium) and my dad mentioned perhaps lining the bottom to stop moisture from the bedding blowing the wood. Anyone got any ideas? I used...

    Lighting for new tortoise bed

Thank you so much for your help with this information. The bulbs etc all confuse me. I bought my vivarium from this place and this is the list they give for lighting - https://www.reptilecentre.com/info-tortoise-vivarium-setups. Am I safe to follow this or is something missing? I haven’t...

    Lighting for new tortoise bed

Hi, I recently bought my tortoise a new vivarium to give her more space. I currently use a combined bulb but I think this vivarium allows for the tube light and basking lamp. I have never used this kind of set up for torty. Can someone please list the things I need like the bulbs and any...

Inactive tortoise / not eating just sleeping

This is a really cool idea. I will have to look into options. Living at home with my parents I don’t have space for this kind of sized thing. Thanks for your help :)

Inactive tortoise / not eating just sleeping

Thanks! How does CHE work if they go into a hide to sleep? Torty probably wouldn’t benefit from it? Thanks

Inactive tortoise / not eating just sleeping

Thanks for the idea. It is a bulb that does UV and heat I believe, a combined bulb. Please feel free to offer any further recommendations for this. Thanks

Inactive tortoise / not eating just sleeping

Coco coir is indeed messy. I used it a few times and it was not fun. Thanks for the recommendations for substrate. Turns out Loumi is getting a house upgrade so will buy the substrate for her new place!

Inactive tortoise / not eating just sleeping

Hi! She is bathed every other day and did indeed go to the toilet today. No runny nose; I think the temperature is fine and but I will double check :) I have had the issue of her eating her substrate in the past but changed to this and now she doesn’t. What do you recommend? thank you :)

Inactive tortoise / not eating just sleeping

Thanks for your response! I used to have a massive enclosure for her and I ended up changing it back to this one. I will look at getting something bigger for her, thank you. What kind of substrate do you recommend?

Inactive tortoise / not eating just sleeping

Hi, Anyone who has seen my posts on here before knows I am a massive worrier when it comes to my torty. The last 2 days Halloumi has not come out at all to bask. Usually I turn her light on in the morning and when I come back she’s sitting under it chilling. Since Tuesday, I have had to...

    Weird skin on eye?

My tortoise lives in a tortoise substrate which is moist, sticks to her legs and leaves things brown looking. My tortoise is soaked daily as for some reason she will not poo unless soaked and poo’s daily. There is no need for LOL - each tortoise is different, thanks for your unhelpful comment.
