    Cooked Human Food For RF?

I am a relatively new tortoise owner. My RF likes a variety of worms, but can someone tell me the benefit of feeding the tort cooked "human" food that they would never naturally eat? I see people mention chicken, fish, eggs, etc. It doesn't seem logical to me, but I am always happy to learn.

That is really helpful. Thank you very much. I will reach out to you when I am ready to start and get some other ideas.

    outdoor "pen"

I am still in the idea stage, it could be 6 months before starting so seeing some pictures for now would be nice. Being that you know exactly the habitat and threats here, how do you feel about a RF the size of mine being uncovered? I would much more like it to be uncovered, but not if there...

Are these bananas okay for my RF?

These come from my yard. There are no pesticides used. Is this safe to offer to my RF? Here are the bananas and trees from which they grow:

    outdoor "pen"

About 8 months ago I moved my redfoot into his outdoor enclosure that I built out of plywood. Unfortunately it has not held up well in the South Florida weather. I am thinking about putting a little border up and giving him the run of a good portion of the back yard. But I have some...

    To Pathos or not?

That is a good point. All the pothos I have have been propagated by me, so everything is new growth so I know no systemic treatment has been used.

    To Pathos or not?

I have read some conflicting information about having pathos in a redfoot's enclosure. I have a few plants I would like to put in Reef's outdoor enclosure, but don't want to cause any harm. Have we come to a consensus of whether pathos is okay or not? Thanks,

Is it possible to tell the sex of a 4 month old red foot?

My RF goes crazy for super worms. I was shocked the first time I gave them to him/her.

Is there any issue with ladybugs and tortoises?

I have built a new enclosure to keep my redfoot outside in the Florida Humidity. In his enclosure I have basil, mint, italian parsley, and cilantro planted. I believe the basil has pests(whiteflies) killing it. Obviously I will not use pesticides, but would it be okay to put a bunch of...

    Protien

I have recently learned that my RF should eat some protein. Instead of chicken or fish, I have chosen to feed him something that he might find in his natural habitat, worms/insects. I borrowed a few superworms from a friend with a different reptile and my RF seems to love them. I was...

Are dandelions safe to eat when grown with fertilizer?

I have heard that dandelions were poisonous to reptiles(and others). Can someone confirm this?

Enclosure Heat in the Southeast US, South Florida

Hello Again Zero Pilot, I am now wondering about lighting for the outdoor habitat. Do you thing my redfoot needs artificial light even though he is outside when he chooses. He remains in his hide most of the time. Does he need direct sunlight or being that he is a forest floor creature, is...
