With fruit flies, I've had good luck with the sticky traps in combination with a trap made from:
a soda bottle with a small hole drilled in the screwtop
1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar
a few drops of liquid dish soap

I've used Manuka Honey to treat wounds on humans, dogs, and tortoises, and found it effective in preventing/defeating infections and in supporting the body's healing process.
Manuka honey comes from Australia and New Zealand and is made by bees that pollinate the tea tree bush...
Dozer enjoying a breakfast of Kale tossed in some dried flowers and herbs and seaweed and grasses, along with some pumpkin guts... I make up a couple of these small plates of food for Dozer every day, and put them in different spots around the enclosure.

As long as your heat and light and humidity in the enclosure are managed, there should be no problem leaving the tortoise 2-5 days.
Feed and soak before and after your absence, and leave water down for them and they'll be fine.

I'm feeding Dozer mostly greens, with a bit of veggies and Mazuri, at the moment... wondering whether I should begin shifting them towards more orchard grass pellets in their daily feed.
Any thoughts and advice will be appreciated.

I've had this happen to one of the Russians I live with... I filed down the sharp projection, treated the wound with betadine and triple antibiotic ointment, no bandage, and the tort was fine.

I run my lights on timers and my heating elements on thermostats... the timer for the lights can be pretty much any timer, but the heating elements draw pretty serious power, so it's worth your while to get a pretty beefy one.
