Really proud of my husband and I with Darth’s new enclosure

We wanted to get him in here before we leave for Christmas but we’ll be adding a little upstairs after the new year.

    Sweet pea leaves?

Yes but the container specifically said sweet peas so I got worried. I do own a redfoot actually haha. I ended up just eating them myself though and tomorrow I’ll get his normal package that I buy haha. Perks of having the same diet as my tortoise.

    Sweet pea leaves?

So today I went to stock up on my tortoises greens and grabbed what I thought was my usual container for him. I get home and realize it has sweet pea leaves in it. Something I’ve never fed him. I went to the ol’ google and I’m getting mixed answers on if it’s toxic or not. Would love some insight!

    Setup Help?

He’s fed on a large clay tile. The rocks I have are entirely smooth and larger than he is and dug into the substrate so they are level with it. They’re not just sitting on top.

So he actually turned a year old 2 days ago (well I got him on September 20th 2018 so technically he’s older than that but you get it!) But here he is the other day and when I first got him.

    Setup Help?

For my redfoot I have a 3’x4’ enclosure with 2 CHE one on each side and a low watt daytime bulb in the center as well as a tube UVB bulb. For substrate I use coconut fiber on the bottom and cypress mulch on top. I’m actually going today to see if I can find some orchid bark for the top and some...

    Hatchling behaviour

Hatchlings tends to hide. My tort is just coming up to 1 year and he very rarely goes into his hides anymore. He usually just chills out and about then comes charging when I bring food.

    Vivarium height

My husband built my torts 4’x3’ enclosure and we have it at 24 inches high with the heat lamps just above it set into the lid on top. I have roughly 4-5 inches of substrate so about 20 inches of clearance between substrate and heat lamps.

    Enclosure Humidity

What do you have under the cypress mulch? I have coconut fiber on the bottom topped with the Cypress mulch. Once a week I move some of the mulch and soak the cocnut fiber underneath then push the mulch back over. I also have this humidifier and I have to refill it every day and a half and it...

    1st tast of mazuri

My dude loves mazuri. I don’t give it to him often but when I do I hide it under all his veggies so he has to eat his way to it.

    Shell rot???

Thank you for the information. I change out his substrate pretty regularly and I have the humidifier tube pointed directly under the hottest light to keep the substrate as dry as I possibly can. I guess it just wasn’t enough.

    Shell rot???

Does my little one have shell rot? When I first got him he had he had this around where he absorbed his egg sac and I thought it was just what happened when the shell was closing up but now it has spread! I took a super soft tooth brush to some of it and it brushed right off. Please help!

    Help with moving.

So my fiancé and I are moving in February and I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to transport my little guy without stressing him out too much. He’s currently in a 4x3 enclosure but I’m going to be transferring him to a 2ftx18inch container a few days-a week before we move. He’s still a...

    Cherry head indoor enclosure

This is my current set up for my little dude. I’ve changed a few things since taking these but it’s still basically the same. I have a ceramic bulb on one side and a low wattage heating bulb on the other side mostly for light with a uvb bar light towards the back. The ceramic stays on all the...

    Redfoot Whistling

This is the enclosure I have for my hatching redfoot. It was originally fully open but it did not keep heat or humidity in well. Now that it’s like this the heat stays in the high 80s day and night and humidity stays in the 90s. I have boards to go over the center section for night time...

Need help with making my red foot enclosure the best It can be

Sorry I’m not sure why I put infrared. I meant ceramic. The one in the back is ceramic and the front is a 100 watt bulb. I also mentioned above that I’m going to mount the UVB inside the enclosure but the screws I have now won’t work. I’m going out tomorrow to buy screws that’s will work. :) I...

Hey everyone. I’m looking for some insight on making my red foots enclosure better. The first picture is to show what all is inside the enclosure but the water dish in the center has since been removed and is replaced with a terra-cotta planter dish. The enclosure is currently 4ftx3ft and it is...
