    ANOTHER Night Box Thread...

I found it at Tap Plastics. I ordered 6”x6’ for $1.45 a foot. Shipping was more than the plastic but total was $26. That was last October. Hope this helps.

    Plant ID

I found an app that id’s plants, called ‘Picture This’. It’s free for 7 days and then I think $20 for a year. While it was free, we went around checking everything we could in our Timmi’s pen. Has anyone else tried using this?

    Sulcata nesting questions

Hi Mark and thanks for the suggestions. Yup, we live in the foothills north east of Fresno. I have another bulb for a heat lamp but need the receptacle. I might have to get a CHE instead though, it might provide more heat. But unless I put some kind of walls up, not much heat stays in there...

    Sulcata nesting questions

The nest area wasn't flooding but the ground it so saturated it would fill after we emptied it. I'll have to figure out a way to get more heat around her then. I hope she'll be ok, raining a lot today again and she hasn't taken a step outside yet. I hope you're right about next year. Thanks...

    Sulcata nesting questions

Hi All, Our Timmi has been digging nests and laying eggs every 4 weeks since the very first day we brought her home in October. She was with a male for about 6 months before we got her. That very first day, it kind of freaked us out. We didn't know what to do. She started the nest late in the...

My Best Night Box Design Yet

Thank you, Tom. I thought that foam stuff would work but I can see how much better the weatherstripping you use is. I'll be getting some tomorrow. We'll also be getting a digital thermometer in there tomorrow near the rhp. Thanks again, Rich

My Best Night Box Design Yet

Here is our night box, built as close to Tom's design as I could make it. The mat on the bottom was given to us with Timmi. We have the thermostat set to 85 and during the day it gets to that but in the early morning its usually about 74. The side with the mat would obviously be warmer. I've...

    ANOTHER Night Box Thread...

Hi Tom, I used your box design to build one for our new Sulcata. Thank you very much for sharing all of this it made things a lot easier. I have a question about the RHP. How far above the tortoise should it be? At the moment I have it like 2-3" above where she would be. Our girl, Timmy JoJo...

    Not yet owners of Sulcatas

Hi Yvonne, That makes sense. They have recently moved to where they currently are and of course would have to be moved here. This has been a very tough decision whether to go forward with this or not. Its getting late in the year and trying to build 2 enclosures secure enough and safe enough for...

    Not yet owners of Sulcatas

Hi Mizcreant, thanks for the reply. We are trying to come up with a "starter space" and would plan on adding on to it later on. Thinking of 32' x 32' using corral boards on 4x4 posts. The two in question are 36 yrs old and over 100lbs and the other is about half that. The person that is getting...

Hi everyone, we are not owners of a tortoise yet but have the opportunity to adopt two adult Sulcata's. My husband and I have been trying to figure out how to build an outdoor area where they will be happy and secure. We have 5 acres in Central California, where summers are hot and winters do...
