Looking happy and healthy as always!
I heard about the snow that reeked havoc in Texas. We get stuff like that every few days lately here in New Hampshire. Did you get by okay? Any power outages or frozen pipes?
Looking good! I see a happy and healthy boy there.
Got a few more months to go until we get weather like that up here. The last few days have had sub-zero wind chill!
I just wanted to give an update on my sully...
After a night at the vet and a procedure, Archimedes came home the other night. The vet diagnosed him with a bladder stone. It was stuck not too far into his cloaca, so they were able to sedate him, break up the stone, and extract the pieces...
I will ask them that when they call me back later. I’m definitely going to be more diligent about giving him soaks than I had been. A lesson learned the hard (and expensive) way, for sure. I thought that you only really needed to soak babies often, but I know better now.
I was going to say the...
Thank you for the concern, all. They were able to do some imaging on him and found that he has a blockage due to some crystallized urates. Thankfully it’s near the end of his cloaca, so they should be able to fix him up without anything too invasive. They kept him overnight to give him some pain...
Thanks! Hopefully he feels better soon. He was still eating and active like normal (no lethargy), so I am hoping I caught it early enough that they can get him on the mend without too much treatment.
Merry Christmas to you and Link!
He looks great! Has he gotten bigger or is it just the photo angles?
We’re actually at a vet right now having Archimedes looked at. Afraid he might have a bladder stone or something that’s causing him to strain when he urinates. Poor guy. I’ve never heard him make such awful noises before. :(...
Awesome photos as always! Thanks for sharing the latest adventure.
I finally snapped a new photo of my boy Archimedes yesterday. He’s growing like a weed!
Oh man, lucky Link! I live in New Hampshire, so we only have about 3-4 months where it’s warm enough to have him outside all day. I haven’t built an insulated shelter for him yet so we bring him in when it gets dark (it can get down to the high 50’s overnight in the summer).
I haven’t uploaded...
He’s getting so big! How old is Link now?
Archimedes is going to be turning five in October and he is getting to be quite the hefty fella! We’ve been letting him spend the whole day in the yard when the weather is agreeable, and he is totally tuckered out by the time we bring him in the house...
Growing like a weed!
Link is one of three cats my wife and I have, and they're all pretty indifferent to Archimedes when I let him walk around the house. Link just sits close by and watches him. The other two usually distance themselves from him. Link sometimes jumps into the tortoise table and...
Love the pics! How big is Link now?
I haven't weighed Archimedes in several months, but he's about 16" long now. He just turned 4 years old in October.
Sorry to hear about Emi passing. :(
Tortoises and turtles are tough nuts to crack when they start acting weird or out of character. My African Side-neck turtle will literally spend a day or more on top of his basking rock without ever stepping foot in the water to be fed. Sometimes he'll sleep...
Great pics! I'm always happy to see what's new with Link.
It's wild how much the colors can vary in the species. Link's skin is much lighter than my Sulcata, Archimedes'.
Always love seeing these photos! I get the weekly summary emails for the forum and hadn't seen this thread in the last few messages. I was wondering if you were still sharing photos. Glad I checked in.
