New Pell pictures. Three Toed Box Turtle

Dag and Pell each got some nightcrawlers today. Took pictures of Pell enjoying hers. We used to have a thriving population of Pill bugs, especially around the foundation and sides of the outbuilding in the back yard but they have done a number on it over the last week. It is quite fun to watch...

Complete rundown on breeding Three Toed Box turtles?

I guess my two most pressing questions are: is it likely that the female might lay eggs at this time of year? Or is that more of a spring thing? And what is required for a good nesting place? These guys are currently indoors and I'm planning on hopefully keeping them awake over the winter. I'll...

Complete rundown on breeding Three Toed Box turtles?

I recently adopted a 1.1 pair of Three Toed box turtles that were an owner surrender to an animal shelter, who passed them on to a dedicated turtle/tort rescue, who then adopted them to me, so I don't have much info on them. I don't particularly have plans to breed them per se, but since...

    Very long time coming!

They both got a couple of hours out in the yard and sun today. The male trekked all over and was interested in exploring, the female pretty much stayed in one spot and was more wary, though she did look around a good bit. Female, with my phone by her for size comparison.

    Very long time coming!

Actually, I decided that wasn't something I'm completely comfortable attempting myself, so I called my vet yesterday and they do beak trimming for a very reasonable price. So she has an appointment on Thurs to get it trimmed.

    Very long time coming!

Thought it looked a bit overgrown. What is the best way to go about trimming a beak?

Another one of the damaged area of the male's shell. The female in natural light. She did't want to hold still at all.

And the pictures as promised. This is the female, peeking out to watch everything going on as I got them ready for a brief soak this morning. The male after his soak. The old injury to the male's shell. The female after her soak.

    Very long time coming!

Just got them tonight. They are super friendly! I'll have to get some good pictures of them tomorrow. The male has really neat markings on his face. He also had some pretty ugly damage to a section of his shell, that I'd been told about, but it looks really well healed. They were an owner...

    Very long time coming!

These are some not great pictures of them. Looks like I might be able to get them this Sun or Mon! The male. Really not a good one of the female. Both together,

    Very long time coming!

Well, it's taken a few years but it looks like I'll finally be getting a turtle(s)! Adopting the desert tortoise didn't work out, had too hard a time figuring out all of the legalities of adopting him. :-( But I've been in touch with a rescue in state and they just got in a good looking pair of...

Updated pictures of Max - Tessera corn snake

Technically he is a morph, Tessera is a pattern mutation, one that's fairly new and is so far the only dominant one found in corns. But his coloring is classic or normal.

Introducing Wash - Brazilian Rainbow boa

We have four, two adults we got this fall, a yearling we've had for a bit more than a year and then this one. So I wouldn't say we have a great deal of experience with them. But from what I've heard from keepers with more experience and seen myself, they tend to be a bit nippy when they are...

Introducing Wash - Brazilian Rainbow boa

Updated Serenity pictures - Thai Bamboo rat.

Serenity was out and about last night so I decided to snap a few pictures. She is one of three Thai Bamboo ratsnakes I have, one of my all time favorite species. Hoping to breed her next year for the first time. She shed a few days ago and it was incomplete, had to give her a sauna to...

Updated pictures of Max - Tessera corn snake

Took some pictures of a few of the snakey kids last night and thought I'd share them on here. This is Max, my male classic colored Tessera corn snake. He hatched May 18th of this year and I got him on July 8th. He's been growing like a weed! [hr] Continued ...
