Just curious if anyone has any suggestions. My 13 year old Sulcata named Buddy who weighs 100 lbs has recently started digging for the first time. I have had him since a hatchling and he has always been satisfied with his man made shelters haha. Anyways, unfortunately he has chose to dig next...
This is an extremely hard post for me which is why I have been holding off but I think it's time. Buddy is approximately 12 years old, around 100 lbs and approximately 2 feet long. He has moved 4 different times with me and my ultimate goal was to have more land for him to roam on. Unfortunately...
Hi,
I just washed mud off of my 80lb Sulcata's shell and discovered a large white area. He doesn't seem bothered by it but I'm really concerned since I have never seen this in the past. He has another small area on the other side of his shell. Does this look like shell rot? Thanks for any info.
I'm trying to help someone rehome 15 Desert Tortoises. They are currently located in AZ so that is where they will need to stay. Obviously per laws, there will be no "rehoming fee" If you have an area where they can live happy and healthy please send me a pm and we can discuss this further...
I had someone reach out to me asking for help. They have approximately 15 Desert Tortoises that need to be rehomed. The exact number is unknown at this time. I know there are laws and that they can only be "gifted" and cannot cross state lines (we are in AZ). I'm just wondering if there are any...
I saw this ad on facebook (I do not know the lady) but told her I would post on here to try and help find a home.
Meet Conan! He's a desert sulcata tortoise. He's a huge guy weighing in around 70lbs! Approx 15 years old. Very friendly and comes/follows you like a dog. He's looking for a new...
I have a large toad living in my backyard. I would let him be but unfortunately I have 2 dogs that like to "hunt" anything that is small and moves. I know that toads can kill dogs with their poison. For now the toad is blocked in with my large sulcata (I'm assuming they are safe together) but...
My parents live down the street from me and they just found a frog on their back patio. We live in Mesa, AZ. Is there such a thing or does this sound more like a pet that got loose? It's been pretty hot here.

Nevermind.....just drove over to check it out and it looks like a Sonoran Desert...
Since I bought the house I'm in now I couldn't think of what to do with this nice size area that was already built. It's the only area that I have yet to get fixed up (lots of weeds). It hit me the other day that this would be a great area for a smaller tortoise. Right now my sulcata has the run...
I can tell Buddy is feeling better....he was up early grazing on grass and decided to take a good ole mud bath after.

So I took my 50lb male Sulcata to the vet on 6/1 due to an injury caused by my female (who I have since re-homed :( ). After 3 x-rays the Vet decided that he still could not say for sure that his leg was broken but was pretty sure it was. He also said that there could be an infection. I'm now...
So I just got done posting about re-homing my female Sulcata due to aggression. After posting I walk outside to find her digging a hole with her hind legs (she has never dug a hole in the 6yrs that I have had her). I have caught my male mounting her on numerous occasions but he never seemed to...
I'm sad to say I will have to find a new home for one of my tortoises. Unfortunately when I took in 2 Sulcata tortoises 6yrs ago I did not know at the time that they may eventually not get along. I have been lucky up until this point. I have a male and female both around 60lbs. I can weight to...
It's a sad day. Time to separate my 2 tortoises. I caught one ramming the other and have one that is limping. They got along so well....never though the day would come. Now to figure out how I'm going to separate them :(
Still have more painting and bricks but its almost finished.... Thinking about putting hay and doggie door type plastic to cover the door opening.
