Ok, thank you. I buried just in the off chance it was viable. I didnt really think it was fertile but it seemed large for a Russian so I had to ask. I wish I would have measured it, it seems larger than a pecan. I may go dig it up. Thanks again and I will post a pic if I dig it up.
I found an egg in my Russian tortoise enclosure but it seems pretty large for a tortoise. It's over 1.5in long and the size of a quarter at its widest point and oblong with a hard outer surface. The yolk is visible through the shell. I can't find anything that gives me the size of a Russian egg...
Would like to trade 3 female adult Redfoot for adult female Russians or other small tortoise species. Local trade only Florida Panhandle / Wiregrass / West GA areas.
I agree 100% on the Tortoise Table comments. I am already planning for next springs planting. I learned some things this summer about their feeding habits and plan on re-landscaping their entire enclosure. I had entirely too many grass types which went untouched. I plan on getting Ranunculus...
Do you feed anything not on the list I made? I will add the Tacoma Stans. The Bok Choy is not listed but falls under cabbage so I will change the listing to specify Bok Choy. Bok Choy is listed on the tortoise table as "In Moderation" do yours eat much? I have noticed that the Table is very...
Left a message with a state biologist today so hopefully they will return my call. The game warden said they won't do anything since they are federally protected.
I have been watching it a local animal rehab said its possible its nesting. I'm going to try and get it moved this week. If they are as territorial as people say it is going to dangerous due to the area being developed on one half and the other is a farmers land.
Currently have Russians and Redfoot
The Russians have 2 enclosures with the following plants growing inside -
Banana trees - Won't eat
Fountain grass - Won't eat
Creeping charlie - only have eaten lightly
Begonias - will eat some to the ground and not others, all planted at the same time and...
A adult Gopher tortoise has dug a burrow about 10 ft from a very busy road at the end of my street and I would like to know if anyone has ever tried to relocate one. I have seen several people intentionally run over tortoises here even adult Gophers.
Be careful about what you add close to walls or corners I found one of my Russians climbing half way up a hibiscus plant. She was after the flowers but could have been an escape route in a different location.
I didn't realize the previous list I posted was incorrectly laid out for viewing so here is a better file. I couldn't figure out how to delete the old file or edit my previous post.
I am interested and have been looking for a few months. I'm in southern Alabama but have family in STL that could pick it up and bring it to me next week. I have 3 adult female redfoot.
