    Rehoming 3 Adult Box Turtles

i am needing to rehome 3 adult three toed box turtles. They have been captive their entire lives ages range from 13 to 33. Two of them were rescues and came to me with severe MBD. They required beak reshaping procedures and still require regular filing and toenail trims. Two males and a...

    My New “Rescues”

Thank you :) And ge saw the Vet, she said he is in actually decent shape despite his deformity. It doesn’t slow him down a bit. And he’s super social.

    My New “Rescues”

Hi guys it’s been a good minute since I’ve posted on here and a lot has happened. Don’t worry this is not some sort of bizarre blog entry! But I did want to let you know that I just recently adopted/rescued if you want to call it, three 25 year old box turtles. These guys are Eastern box...

Feline dental cleaning and scaling - pro or con?

I'm about to enter vet school to specialize in nutrition and reproduction mainly in canines but I know a lot about cats as well. Dental disease is one of the major killers among cats. Poor dental hygiene can lead to organ failure and has been linked to cancers. It can also cause nasty abscesses...

    Help with shell?

Other than looking dried out shell wise she appears okay. No pyramiding is present or anything. I suggest using a mixture of Organic Compost (3-4$ a bag) with some sphagnum moss. Make sure she stay rather moist but not in a swamp either. To wet for extended periods can cause fungal infections...

    So... This happened

On Sunday I received a text from someone I had spoken with months ago. I was intially looking for a companion for my male three Toed, knowing males would fight I assumed a female would be okay. I found out that males will often chase females to death so housing thin 1:1 isn't a good idea. The...

Also avoid feeding too much iceberg lettuce or anything else with the high water content such as watermelon. Kale can actually deplete their ability to absorb calcium properly so watch how much you feed of it a little every now and then is OK but it should not be fed as a regular staple of their diet

    Box turtle

I own a three Toed, they are essentially the same as an eastern and they do sometimes cross breed in the wild. Box turtles don't necessarily need high humidity. My boy lives outdoors here in Texas where the humidity can vary from extreme to zero on a daily basis. Box turtles do not always...

    Just a Hello!

Just a hello from my three Toed Adagio! We are new to the forum but are active on another. I rescued Adagio with a cracked shell. Someone had attempted to release him into the wild after he was a pet for 10 years. He didn't fare well so I took him on and now he's a spoiled brat!

    This Doesn't Look Right

Thanks tom! I was really worried I was gonna have to fight the urge to pay $250 and drive a 10 hour round trip to rescue a tortoise I'd have him at the vet the next day in ICU! Ask my vets I'll bring just about anything in regardless of what it is. It's how I acquired many of my odd pets...
