I’m just wondering what happens to the large number of sulcata being sold. I’m sure most people don’t know what they are getting into and wonder how many and given away or god forbid let loose. I’m sure a lot of them die in captivity long before adulthood.
Have to say he’s turning into my favorite tort even though he was free. Always happy to see me and runs to the front of the cage doing his weird little heavy breathing thing.
Most economical way to set up a pen outdoors for a decent size redfoot. I plan on putting him out during the summer and pulling him in during the night. It’s not going to be a permanent enclosure. I’m looking at something like 5x10. I se cinder blocks used. Garden ties and prob least economical...
hey guys,
Messing with my uv lights in my animal plastics T-70(24” tall 8’ wide). I have a 36” t5 fixtures on either end. I was planning on running a 12% Arcadia bulb in each fixture for the sulcata/leopard cages but am getting solarmeter readings of 7-7.5 tortoise level with the fixtures hard...
i have a few animal plastics cages that I want to put in the basement. I am afraid of flooding as it has before when the sump pump goes out. What is the EASIEST way to get them off the ground? Would stacking a few 4x4’s in three columns topped with plywood be ok? I’d use some sort of fastener...
Any problems keeping adult female sulcatas and leopards together. If I were to have 2 females it would be nice to let them have a community grazing area.
Hey guys,
Upon seeing Toms set up with the animal plastics cages I started looking into them. I’m thinking about getting the T70. So 96”x36”x24”. What would you recommend for options and light/heat placement.
Thanks!
Plan on starting an outdoor area for my sulcata and red foots. I figured pressure treated 4x4’s about a foot and a half in the ground would be ok. But what about the actual fence. Was scouring the lumber section at Lowe’s and saw some of the wood can get quite expensive. Like the pressure...
Just wondering what you guys are using. And what paper count I should get. Chopping grass everyday is getting tedious. I just want to make big containers of it.
i would like to eventually move my sulcata outside during summers. I live in a small clearing in the woods. Anyone have any tips or tricks for orienting to the sun or know of any pitfalls to having pens on the fringes of the woods? Growing grass is always a problem.
Thanks for your time,
Erik
Hey guys
Built a new indoor enclosure for the sulcata. Taking my time doing it. Painted the interior prob over a month ago and put a coat of urethane between 2-3 weeks ago. It still smells when I stick my head down in it. Will this go away with some more time or should I set it up without...
