Hey, thanks guys. I thought it was supposed to hibernate, but was not sure. My spare bedroom always stays very cool in the winter so I will put it in a 10gal. tank and leave it in there. Hopefully it will do just fine.
Now I wonder if any more of it's buddies are hiding somewhere. :-)
I just found a young ring neck snake hiding in my spare bedroom. Seeing how it is going to be cold outside, should I over winter him here in the house or turn him loose outside so he can take his chances?
Thought I would post some pics of my boxies before they dissapeared for the winter.
large female with spots
female with white beak
male, looks yellow, but is really orange
very orange 3" male
bland 3" possibly female
Well, crap! I just dug most of them up already. Can I stick them back in? I am missing one small one so that one may wind up hibernating afterall. We are to be in the 70's next week, can I put them back in their pen then?
Yup, that sums up my winters. LOL That was neat. So, the frost line is 2', I did not know that. Maybe I will reconsider this whole hibernation thing after all.
I have heard of people having problems with hibernation, but after what Maggie said, I am a little scared. My boxies seem to want to...
Okay, I got 18" dirt, 3-4" of mulch and I just got done stuffing leaves into the hide boxes. What else should I do to prep for hibernation? Should I spread hay on top AFTER they go under or now?
On a side note, we have been in the middle to high 30's at night and in the 50's during the day...
Oh, I forgot about the health certificate. And you are right, shipping would not be a very good idea, but I do not know anyone close to me that could take her. Looks like I will have to rethink my thoughts. Thank you for reminding me.[hr]
It is not just a bubbly nose though, she...
This little guy has an URI, but still eats great, drinks and deficates. Times are tough here, like everywhere else and the funds and time are not going to allow for proper treatment. So, I am willing to give her to someone who has the time and funds.
If shipping is required, I would have to...
I've never had my boxies hibernate before so this is all new to me. I am going to have them go under in their pen. My dirt level is 18" and I have about 4" of mulch on top. That is why I was thinking about adding hay or straw over all that to help too. We can and do get to about 0 degrees once...
After running through every name in the book, we are calling her....no laughing now.....I mean it, I hear snickering.....WaWa. :P
She responds to the word chihuahua like crazy, so it will be WaWa for short. Sassy or Miss Priss would be more like it though.
She is roughly 6 years old...
RE: Some people should be shot!
I'm truly sorry if what I had said offended anyone. It was just a figure of speech. I would not hurt anyone unless they were hurting me or mine, but it just makes me angry with what some people are capable of. This chihuahua is not the first dumped animal and she...
