    The Amazing Carol S!

I totally agree and have been wanting to purchase some from her for a couple years. I finally did with hatchlings and a 2yo male and all I can say is I’m completely happy with my purchases and impressed as a fellow breeder!

    The Amazing Carol S!

I have purchased both hatchlings and a 2yo male from Carol and as a fellow breeder, I consider her to be top notch not only with breeding and hatching them, but in how she cares for and gets them started strong! I firmly believe ANT purchases from her will be satisfied! The 2yo male I got from...

6 Month Old RES Needs New Home

I’m sure most if not all of us have been there with excitement. Now that you’ve decided on a species, really dig deep into them. There are lots of ways to keep a tort alive, less ways to get them to thrive. Right now it will seem like a ton of info to take in, but just be patient and realize...

Newly rescued Russian, can you confirm the sex?

Face is scarred up and had to split him up as he won’t quit, but also can’t submit an older larger male... Hopefully he learns one day and I won’t have to keep a second enclosure for the bad boy..

Newly rescued Russian, can you confirm the sex?

Spot on. The first one(male) hides his tiny little thing. As for the last one, no clue as to what it was, but he’s all healed up now. He is the ugliest most tore up male Russian I’ve ever had. Names “Mug” bc it’s that ugly. Loves the ladies and won’t turn up a challenger, or quit! Ugly, but fun...

Newly rescued Russian, can you confirm the sex?

Looks can be deceiving. Only one female in these pics and that’s the 3rd. See how close the cloaca is to her plastron? The first one is a nearly 6” male but has a smaller tail. He’s been solo his whole life and just came around my females this week. I can check to see if there is any facts on if...

Newly rescued Russian, can you confirm the sex?

It’s definitely lower than any female I’ve ever seen. I think it’s just curved back as the tip is blurry suggesting it is closer to the camera than the plastron that is in focus.

Newly rescued Russian, can you confirm the sex?

I’m pretty sure nothing is abnormal about this male tortoise’s tail. It’s simply curved back towards the camera so it appears shorter than it really is. Perhaps a few more pics might clear this all up?

    Beginner/Hermann’s Baby Tortoise 🐢

Andrew at ATC is a fantastic keeper and even better person! You won’t be disappointed in a Hermann’s tort. Have you gotten your enclosure set up yet? I’d recommend you cruise through the threads especially the ones tagged above. You can also check out Garden State Tortoises and Herminni Haven...

6 Month Old RES Needs New Home

On redfoots, RES, Hermann’s, Russians, Cherryheads...? Took me nearly a year looking into research for just Russians before I finally got the first one. Didn’t take me as long for other species of tortoise, but I also raised many species of turtles my whole life, so it wasn’t really my first...

    Male Hermanns needs new home

Just looked where you’re located. Not sure I would brumate(hibernate) outdoors in Canada, but I’m not 100% on your climate. I’d suggest an outdoor enclosure with a cold frame(tiny greenhouse) for summer months, and at the minimum a 2’x4’ tortoise table for winter. If you’re going to keep one...

    Male Hermanns needs new home

Great choice! I love mine and they’re a perfect first tort! What are your thoughts for an enclosure? Outdoor or indoor?

    Male Hermanns needs new home

Stop looking for a turtle or tortoise until you have a proper setup. I work in rescue and we require documentation of a proper enclosure before we allow any to be adopted. We don’t charge bc we know how expensive it is to get the proper setup. Like others have said, just slow your role and start...
