    DIY Cages: Critter Condo [48"X24"X24"]

I have a very similar version, https://reptilekages.com/ same size, and I am happy with it so far. The only thing that I did was replace the plexiglass windows with regular glass, the plexiglass gets scratched up quite easily.

One of the babies died suddenly

Thank you Chris, your help and assistance has been so invaluable, I've honestly been so impressed with your help and assistance and help throughout this process. Family is throughly enjoying the torts, their soaking and feeding is part of our daily routine as a family.

One of the babies died suddenly

I did not even think about a necropsy, that is a good point. We buried it in the back yard but I can get to it. Assuming vets do that? I have them in a 48x24 encloure, temps go down to 70 at night, high 80's during the day, with mid 90's for the basking area.

One of the babies died suddenly

Yeah, I honestly have no idea and as you said, signs seem to be so subtle. She was a bit lethargic compared to the others 2 nights ago, but she ate. The rest of them eat really well today and are super active, they seem to be doing great, fingers crossed.

One of the babies died suddenly

My 5 torts from Chris have been doing great, but today one id dead. She was dead by the water container, and I am puzzled as to why? She was eating last night, although several nights ago she appeared lethargic and my wife found her once last week flipped over. The only change in the...

    Enclosure live plants ideas/thoughts

Are there any live plants that any of you have been able to successfully keep alive in your torts enclosure? I have some fake plants, would be cool to be able to have any live plants in there. Any suggestions?

Help needed - left western hermanns soaking overnight

Water was below the base of the shell height and they were in their enclosure, so water was cold ish but enclosure was in the high 70's. They are all basking now, and eating as well. Silly accident with a sick kid and my b-day today we lost track of things in the evening, we typically soak...

Help needed - left western hermanns soaking overnight

My westerns are 5 months old, and last night we mistakenly left them soaking overnight. They seem to be perfectly fine, anything I need to look for or anything I can do to make sure they are OK?

    Best Thermometer and Hygrometer?

That is solid advice, I like it and come to think of it, I think you are 100% right. I do have an infrared thermometer and I can occasionally check under the basking light, while this will be great for overall monitoring.

    Best Thermometer and Hygrometer?

@jsheffield, thank you for the reply. The Govee is even cheaper and seems really slick. Based on what I see on Amazon, you don't need any external probes with it, you just place that white sensor where you want to.

    Best Thermometer and Hygrometer?

Manufacturer confirmed you can use multiple sensors, although I am not sure I need more than one. Will start with one and take it from there.

    Best Thermometer and Hygrometer?

@Sterant, can you use two of these sensors simultaneously, or do you need to really? I have a 4 by 2 OVC enclosure, I was thinking of monitoring cold side and basking area.

    2019 Hatchlings thread

So sorry for your loss Kipley, that stinks! I re housed my 5 hatchlings in a Kages 4x2x2 enclosure, love it so far, so much better than the makeshift Zoomed turtle table. I will post some pics this weekend, babies are pretty active, they are starting to eat more and more each day, some more...

3 feet light fixture for a Kages custom enclosure

That is exactly what I was trying to say, I was thinking screw in LEDs. Thank you again, this makes sense and you've been of great help. I will report back once I have everything set up, getting my T5HO light tomorrow.

3 feet light fixture for a Kages custom enclosure

THANK you @Tom, this makes sense. Since I have two other ceramic sockets drilled and pre installed, would it be ok to put some regular type of lights in there, more for our viewing pleasure so that part of the enclosure is lit? So far I will have a 36 inch T5HO reptisun 10UVB, one basking area...

Chalk up another one for the anti-coil light contingent

@Blackdog1714 , thank you for the reply, I see that there are quite a few options, trying to get some decent options. Do you think 2 of the Powesuns from Zoomed will give my Hermann's enough UVB exposure? I got a 4 by 2 by 2 PVC box with 3 ceramic light sockets, trying to see if I also need to...
