  • i have a 60 year old desert tortoise. i was always afraid to oil her shell for feer of suffocation, or something...it looks very dry but have never had problems with her health. is this safe to oil her shell?

    a few days late but.. they don't breathe through their shell? assuming you think they have pores (that they breathe through) in their shell, they don't. you should soak her in water every few days or so. you could also apply oil too. a tiny bit of cold pressed organic coconut coil or olive oil would be fine.

    I have a desert tortoise who's about 60 years old. she's seems to be doing fine, but i've noticed her shell is looking extremely dry. is there something I should be doing to her shell?
