3 year old Sulcata tortoise

I have had my sulcata sence he/she was 2 weeks old. he is 3 years right now but it is only 7 inches long. he lives outside during the summer and is diet is grassland tortoise food. he does not have any pyramiding. but i have seem 3 year old sulcatas a lot bigger then 7 inches. is it normal to be his size for his age.

That seems small to me but others will be here to chime in. I would think he should be closer to 10-12''. Can you give us more details about how you keep him... Temps, humidity.ect does he only eat the Grassland food or does he eat real grass and weeds?

Hi, and welcome to the Forum!

I think you would see a great improvement in growth if you feed fresh food instead of a sole diet of the manufactured diet.

How much does he weigh? My sully is almost 2 and weighs 7 lbs and 8 inches long. He eats grass, weeds, carrots, prickly pears (on occasion), zucchini and tomatoes (now and again). Rarely does he eat anything that does not come from the yard. He has been known to eat an available earthworm :eek:
