Sorry about the length..I am not complaining in the least bit about this new found interest my tortoise has with me, at all. However, I am finding myself to be a tad concerned with his new admiration for being held. So, I have had my hatch-ling for well over a month now. He is the PERFECT addition for our little family. My fiance and I just adore him. I have been handling him since the second week we had him just so he was nice a comfortable with his new space. He seemed to had gotten a nice normal tortoise routine. Wake up, bask, eat, soak, explore, sleep, repeat. He has a nice setup with temperature and humidity gauges to keep close tabs on his environment. He has his water dish, food dish, basking rock that he adores, fake plants to feel cozy. He has coco coir bedding with about 1/3 actual plain organic topsoil. His area stays about 75-80 degrees in general and always around a 90 degree basking spot. It stays about 45-50 percent humidity in there and he seems just fine. Well about a week ago I broke my leg and have been bed ridden for awhile. So I am able to spend some more quality time with my little guy. I lay his favorite towel on my lap and he immediately gets comfortable and falls asleep and will do so until I move him. He will also proceed to sleep on my chest if he so chooses. Lately he has been restless in the afternoons that I typically take him out and will attempt to climb out of his habitat? This will continue until late hours of the night when he used to just burrow and go to sleep. Now he will try to climb out of his tub, pace around, and stare up at me until I pick him up. As soon as I do he calms down, I put him on his towel on my lap, and he closes his eyes to get comfy. Sometimes he will not even snuggle when I put him on the towel he will just sleep. After he has slept on the towel for awhile, I put him back in his tub and he will burrow right away and go to sleep. but if I do not give him more than ten-fifteen minutes of sleeping in the towel, he simply gets restless until I pick it up and repeat the process of letting him sleep for more than fifteen minutes. I have no clue what this means. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

It seems like the hatchling I sold you loves his new mommy and I am so glad that he got a wonderful home and wants to be spoiled by his mommy. I love the picture. He looks like he is ever so content hanging out with mommy.

As longs as he has space, a good diet, basks a little, has access to UVB, etc. I don't really see a problem :)

He/She is fine. Torts are creatures of habit, some more than others. They develop routines in our care, just like they do in the wild - special places to hide, sleep, times eating, roaming etc. I believe even smells can trigger a response. As long as they are eating well, and environment is proper for them they grow and thrive.
If your baby's routine changes, it will adjust and develop a new one. No worries.

All I cab say is don't take it for granted. Your pretty lucky. Some tortoises hate being handled and won't come out when humans are there. :):)

Thanks everyone! I definatly love his new found fondness. I just had to know if maybe it was abnormal and I was simply enjoying it when there could have been something wrong with him I wasn't noticing. This is why I love this forum. You guys are great, thank you. :) Carol has some great RTs with some great personality! Lol she helped me pick him and it was a match made In heaven. My fiancé says that it was almost too perfect! Haha :p
