Gypsy died

Before we buy another I want to make sure we get from a better place - they were both fed right, lighting was right, heating right, but both died - both from same place.

They are buried together near a rose bush

Hope they are happy over the rainbow bridge

We do want another pair - but I think I am going to wait to my December Repticon

Sad, condolences. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but next time why not start with one.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

I've looked at other babies - b/c my vet thinks they could have had a problem when I got them (since both died and I got from the same place) Here are their photos

Gypsy (who died on 6/3)

Tank (who died two weeks after we got him)

This was Gypsy about a month ago (after seeing the vet)

BTW I highly recommend a breeder from the forum for your next ones. One member I would very highly recommend is N2TORTS, Jeff. He is in Cali. He has babies all the time popping out. There are others too.

This deserved to be repeated. It gave me chills.

Also, would suggest you obtain ONE tortoise and avoid a pair...pairs are a human notion and not a beneficial situation for tortoise.

i think your tortoise died because of respiratory infection, you can see it on the first photo. its eyes, they are always close.

i also experience that.
experience is the best teacher.

know why and how they died before purchasing new tortoise.
learn from mistakes..

no offense, but study and study.
reading will help you to be a better tortoise keeper.

I am so sorry for your loss on both of your tortoises :(. They were cute too! In time you will get another one. Maybe you don't have to get one so young. But that's in due time.

I got mine from turtle source. so far so good **keeping fingers crossed* I heard good things about them so far...

Did they get you pics or just send you one? I have tried dealing with them numerous times in the past and I have yet to get a single photo from them.

My sincere condolences. That's a horrible situation. Regarding vendors, I have been very impressed with Tyler at TortoiseSupply. Super responsive and patient with a million or so questions I asked. Check out the vendor review section. My experience with him is not unique. Best of luck in the future :)

What kind of setup did you have for them? I notice in most of your pictures their eyes look very dry. How they usually look when they are raised in low humidity on rabbits pellets….I'm not accusing you of anything, just making an observation that you perhaps might want to change your care a little bit. If you would detail your setup and care it would help everyone to help you not make the same mistake next time. I know that they likely came unhealthy from the breeder, but as I said, they look very dry in those photos….
