Russian tortoise nails

Hi everyone i am just joining these forums
I recently got a Russian tortoise which his owner couldn't keep anymore
Hes 6 an NEVER had a uvb light but getting him on right now?
My question is that his nails are long like he pretty much walks on them and do i need to cut them? will have exact measurements and pictures soon

Russian tortoise's nails are a bit longer than what one might think they should be. We'll need to see pictures.

I got my russian one week ago. She also had loooong nails. I placed several flat rocks that she walks across to get to her food & they have gone down a bit. Just a thought.

well cant get pictures but longest in the front is half an inch shortest is a quarter inch
back longest is quarterish inch all else sorter

Hello and welcome.

You may place some tiles up side down in your enclosure (12" X 12" cheap tile. $0.89 each at home Depot or Lowe's). when they walk a across the tiles somehow wear their mails.

I've cut my Russian's nails with a dog nail clipper before
