I also got another turtle. Meet Asian Box Turtle Trisha Takanawa (her name is a Family Guy reference).

I know she doesn't fit in this thread but no one seems to visit the terrestrial turtle thread. ^^;;

Very cute! But the baby looks like a three toed boxie to me.

I don't want to be depressing (because its still cute) but that's in no way a desert box turtle. That is 100% a 3toed box turtle. Did you purchase it as a desert?

Whatever he is, he's a cutie! And the Asian is very pretty!

I paid more for him than I should have if you're SURE he's a three-toed. I don't like to be lied to. Should I complain?

To be specific, http://www.reptilecity.com/Merchant...tiles&Product_Code=ASM4&Category_Code=TURTLES

I absolutely bought him as a desert. I could have gotten a three-toed for $60, or found a rescue one on CL when I go to Louisiana this summer. I'm pretty butt-hurt about it.

What should I do? I mean, I don't want to send him back either, it's not his fault he's not what I paid for...

Sorry to double post here, but I also was a little concerned about my Asian box turtle's weight. Her limbs seems pretty flimsy and thin. I've never had an Asian before, and information in them seems to be quite limited...but she seems underweight. :/

I'm 100% positive that's a 3toed. Deserts look remarkably different to that . Here are some of my 3toeds I hatched this yearImageUploadedByTortForum1382798707.877875.jpg

I would absolutely complain. The sooner the better. Have pictures of yours and comparison pictures ready to use

Here is a young desertImageUploadedByTortForum1382798833.822306.jpg

I went look at the links you posted. Even the turtle pictured as a desert is not a desert. It is POSSIBLE that they purchased them from a breeder THINKING they were actually deserts, but it's unlikely . Especially if they are selling both kinds and they look the same.

Notice in the add that the common name does not match the Latin name. Always a red flag that either they don't know what they are doing and/or don't care.

I could see confusing a desert and ornate, but not confusing a desert with an eastern/3-toed.

I didn't even notice that AT ALL. I feel really stupid. >:/

I grazed over a lot because the price of it all (with free shipping) was so enticing.

I found some reviews of these people and the news is not good. NO ONE has good experiences with them except for the very few.

EDIT: I complained and he called back instantly. He was a bit rude but he said he'd refund me if I returned the turtle. :/

I feel pretty bad. I don't feel right sending him back. It's not his fault...what should I do?
