Poopsmiths!

These are my poopsmiths!





I have to say these guys are my favorite wild animal in my yard. I love the roadrunner and the nighthawks, but these guys are my favorite. They LOVE the fresh tortoise poop! I counted 14 dung beetles. There may have been more, but that's how many I saw here. They were cutting out large pieces and rolling it away to bury it for their own reproductive purposes. They also eat poop. They're so helpful to me. They actually took all of this pile of leopard tortoise poop, which was huge.

I welcome them to my yard. I have plenty of critters to keep them here and happy

Does anybody else have these little dudes working in their yard?

I had them when we had pigs . Have not seen them eat my tortoises poop.

Maybe it's because I have a bunch of tortoises. But, maybe you have a bunch too, I don't know. I am just happy they're around.

No kidding!! I could keep those beetles fed for a while! The poop piles up quickly so either compost it or toss it over the fence...
