Hi, I'm new to this forum and I find it very helpful so far! I have a 35yr old female desert tortoise and a box turtle that just showed up in my yard. We just moved into this house about a month ago so I am guessing it was left behind and just came out of hibernation.

I don't know much about box turtles, but it is about 6inches in length so I am guessing its full grown? It stays in the planter that runs the full length of our yard. We put him in the middle of our yard and it ran back tot he planter and climbed the 2ft wall!! We noticed "lil dude" cruisin around about 4 days ago. I'm trying to research as much as I can on how to take care of it, but he seems pretty self sufficient....he knows his way around the yard better then any of us so far!!

Would love any advise on what to do with a box turtle....a somewhat wild one I guess. I turn the sprinklers on for him twice a day....other then that he doesn't have access to water besides the wadding pool I have for my dessert tortoise, Daisy.

I don't know much about box turtles besides the fact that they do like to spend a lot of time soaking in water so adding a wading pool or something similar would be appreciated by your new friend.

Hello and Welcome:) I would keep the boxie and your desert apart. I would also have water available for each 24/7.
