Here in California, some thief's decided to steal from a zoo. They stole 14 tortoises and 1 turtle! It said that the ages range from 1-40 years of age. The larges tortoise they had is 16 in diameter, weighing in at 55-65 pounds. The owner of the zoo is offering $200 for any information leading to the ones who took these guys. The owner also said they were worried these guys would not be receiving proper care. I am glad that the owner mentioned that they are really worried about care for them but 200 is not much (maybe it's all they can afford).

It's too bad that people do this to something so great, whether it be any animal.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Definitely. I do not know what kind they were. The newspaper didn't give it very much attention. It was on A-5 lower left hand corner and was literally 4 inches long.

I don't get it. I don't know what the punishment would be if they got caught, but the punishment has to be far greater than any value they would get from stealing less than $2,000 worth of tortoises.

If they were something like radiated's I would understand the motive, but stealing sulcatas and desert tortoises? They could have been GIVEN these types of tortoises if they knew where to look. It would have taken a little bit more effort, but at least they wouldn't be criminals.

Criminals usually are not well known for their thinking. It also may have been done more for the thrill, then the money value.
