Aw Maggie...so sad to hear of Bobs foot....maybe you can but some warm water in a spray bottle mixed with some betadine (I know not your favorite product :D) and let it get really saturated and then another spray bottle with warm water only and after you let the first spray set in for a few minutes then spray with the warm water..and follow up with the antibiotic ointment as suggested....:D

Also...if you pour peroxide on an open wound it does sting....ouch...and if you do use the peroxide I have read and do this myself....after you let the bubbles eat the bacteria /infection then a warm water spritz should be done to Stop the drying out process that can sometimes dry out the top layer of a sore which in turn can dry too much and can cause cracking which really hurts...

Maggie did you give em hugs and kisses to help ease the pain....:D

I was wondering how would swat be. I use it on my horses and dogs all the time.

I used betadine in the initial cleaning of his wound, but now I am using Nolvasan. Betadine should only be used in the first cleaning because it destroys the white blood cells needed for regrowth I only use it once. Now I am cleaning with Nolvasan and packing the wound with Clorhexadine creme. Thanks for your advice...

Yeah, I agree with maggie about betadine once & nolvasan. I also like honey & banana cream, but those get a little sticky...

I know this is an old post, but how did Bob's wound end up healing? I missed this thread back when it was first posted somehow...

Ouch! I hope he is ok. You should check bob at night. Ants are active all night. I had ants kill an adult colony of red-eyed tree frogs once!
Also good choices in anti biotic prophylaxis. However nolvasan on skin should be diluted I think if it's used repetitively, no?
