So, it's been just under a week since Emrys came into my life. It being late September, I wasn't expecting an opportunity to get him outside this year, and thought we'd be waiting until next spring.

Today, I was in the office and noticed how warm it looked outside. The car on the way home said it would be hot enough for Emrys to be outside, but only just. I was hoping I'd get home in time, and I did. In fact, it was warmer in the garden than the car told me it was!

Emrys got his first bit of time in the garden today, and we both loved every second. I'd say the garden's 50ft x 20ft, and he explored the whole thing many times over under my watchful eye. He was racing around, so active and happy, and he followed me a lot as I wandered around! It felt like a really good bonding session, and when I took him in for his soak he yawned - cute!

Here are my favourite six pictures from today's adventures:

He's getting plenty of unexpected time out, with this heatwave. In fact, we're outside together now. I think this is his fifth day out,and he seems to enjoy them more every time! This evening is the first time I've seen him trying to graze - usually, he explores but doesn't seem to realise he's walking on potential food.

SulcataSquirt (sorry, not sure I know your real name!), I completely agree. I've never been an outdoor person - I usually hide indoors even when it's sunny, but I've made a commitment now to get into the garden for at least an hour on every sunny day for the rest of my life - it'll probably do me some good, too! I bet I need my UV!
