Hello I currently have one redfoot in a vivarium enclosed set up and I am thinking about getting another to keep in the same enclosure.

Is there anything I should be worried about or keep in mind e.g. if they should be similar ages or something?

Cheers

It's hard to find a big enough indoor enclosure to house two tortoises safely. Pairs usually set up a hierarchy where one will be dominant and the other submissive. The dominant tells the submissive to get out of the territory, but he's closed in and can't leave. This causes stress for both of the tortoises. If you have a big enough space you can add a lot of sight barriers and it MAY mitigate the problem, but then again, it may not.

Why do you want another tortoise? Is it because you think your tortoise is lonely? This is not the case. Tortoises are solitary creatures and don't need or want other tortoises for company.

Tortoises should never be housed in pairs. Groups of juveniles are usually oaky, but not pairs.

If you do get more, be sure to observe a lengthy quarantine. At least several months.

What size tortoise and what size enclosure are we talking about?
