Is it normal to breath heavier while eating?

Hi! I was filming my sulcata eating dandelion greens and I heard her/him exhale, it wasn’t very loud I just had a mic so you can hear it pretty clearly. Is this just a normal eating thing, or is it bad?

here’s the video

I’m going to say yes. I know our Sully pretty much does the same, eats, eats, eats….then a large exhale. Dandelion after dandelion, then a large exhale.

Here’s a video, if you turn your volume up, you will hear the obvious exhales in between the eating.

S/he's getting so big!!

Lots of Chelonians swallow a giant bunch of stuff hard and fast, then forcibly exchange air in the lungs before the next gobble. lol Wild DNA doesn't mess with manners. =DD

But seriously. Reptiles are much closer to the frog ancestors in their physiology than they are to us mammals. They stop their breath when eating and drinking. If they're being a bit of a piggie, the re-start breath can be a loud gasp or snort.

If you feel something besides loud eating is going on, upload some longer sequences.

Some tl;dr about tortoise breathing:
