Redfoot need a high humidity environment to grow smooth. A closed chamber is the best way to do this. Most if not all big box chain stores and mass produced tort enclosure are not a proper enclosure for tortoises.
See thru sides are fine, but you may have to block a portion of it so the tort can't see out, otherwise they just pace or constantly flip themselves trying to get out.
Read the RF caresheets and the closed chamber threads. RF are prone to shell rot. They need high humidity with a dry top layer of substrate.

Thank you for the reply. Much appreciated. Humidity is not a problem as I live in southern Florida. Current habitat is fully open and humidity is usually around 80%.
