Dog attacked solcata tortoise

My tortoise lives in an outside enclosure and my dog managed to get inside and attack my tortoise and I’m in a panic of what to do should I try to save it or put it down

Your tortoise needs to get to a reptile vet, and quickly. No time to mess around with this one.

I agree needs a vet.

That tortoise looks very savable it will be a long road best started with a vet but it should be able to recover and live a long life

It doesn't look really serious as long as you take it to a Vet now, before infection sets in. Are you in Richland Washington?

If your child got bitten by a dog would you put IT down???
Poor thing. But he will recover. That just looks like a shell wound.
Get to an EXOTIC VET ASAP!!! They will close and repair the shell

It will take a very long time to heal but it will heal.

this is a serious bite , it's a canine , surviving this will depend on how deep it went and what type of damage it did ... imo

Looks like the shell has been opened to the inside of the tortoise. No telling if any of the organs have been compromised. You need to find a tortoise-qualified vet and take the baby in as soon as possible. He'll need to have the wound flushed out and antibiotics given.

In the meantime, keep him in a warm, dry, dark place - a 10 gallon aquarium will work for this.

Get him to the VET NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you were able to help him. My tortoise was terribly injured by a dog bite or trampled. 5 skull fractures and we rushed him to Washington State University veterinary hospital where he has been under their care since Friday March 12th.
