Hi all, this is my very first time posting on the forum.. I’m Vicky, from Selby North Yorkshire UK, around 4 years ago I took in 2 unwanted Brazilian Red foot tortoises..I have a male and a female (the female is currently digging so have recently purchased an incubator) they live in a large heated shed with a fully planted outdoor enclosure attached.
In November last year I also took in a 5 month old leopard tortoise, he had been fed solely on celery and bell peppers which had caused chronic diarrhoea and he was malnourished..after a lot of tlc, vet visit, correct lighting and heat and correct diet he has now gained 121g is growing well and has healthy poop. I have been told my leopard tortoise is a Pardalis Babcocki but I’m wondering how you can tell the Pardalis Pardalis and the Pardalis Babcocki apart? I’ve had him now for 4 months today, I was led to believe the Babcocki grew slowly but yet mine has gained 121g and grown a lot in that time.

Hi Vicky and welcome.
I have a leopard too, who adopted me when he was about 3 or 4 years old.
As for the difference I can't help you with that but hopefully someone with more experience of them can. There are posts and threads about it if you use the search facility but there seems to be some difference of opinion. I think pbs are more common than pp but I've never really researched it.

Hello and welcome, Vicky. My brother lived in Selby for years ,and I visited him several times there. Now he lives in France. Your tortoises look great, especially the little leopard - you obviously look after them really well. Nice to meet another UK resident (I live in Devon)

Thanks, the one with the split scutes is my female..the female was a lot smaller than the male when I first took them in but is now quite a good bit bigger, that’s another thing that’s confusing as everyone seems to state the males are bigger than the females. She started marbling last year
