I was reading Tom’s outdoor enclosure bible and I have a stupid question. Do I need to bury wire so my Hermann’s doesn’t burrow or dig out? I was thinking about ordering this enclosure. Any thoughts welcome. Keep in mind that I know it would be appropriate to build something but I’m pretty sure my husband will snap if I give him one more animal project.?

They burrow but I can’t imagine them tunnelling their way out, especially if the soil is tough.

If it makes you feel better though, you could always put a pond liner down in the enclosure and add your own substrate on top of that. That way it’s a substrate you can be sure is free from pesticides, too.

Hatchling would be fine in that enclosure. An adult needs more room. Minimum of a 4x8 foot.

You have a couple years with this cage. Then in a couple years or so you could actually just add on to this one.
Guess depends if you want to build a bigger one now or add on later. Not sure you will find a proper adult size enclosure already built.
