Morning folks, just looking for some opinions/advice/reassurance! My little one opens his mouths and chirps but it only seems to be when he is in the bath and has done it since I’ve had him(which is about 6 weeks) . Is this normal? He has done it a couple of times when I’ve put him back in his enclosure but it’s usually after his bath ?‍♀️. Any advice? X

Tortoises inhale or expel air when they feel in danger as a threat to predators.
I wouldn't be too concerned if I only heard it then. Especially if the animal is still eating and active like "normal".
But if he/she makes noises while breathing normally. It could be the beginning of a respiratory infection.

What are your four temps? Do you keep the water warm for the entire duration of the soak?

Hi Tom, my basking spot is about 37-38, cool end about 26, and night temp is about 20. When bathing him I change the water when it cools and keep a close eye on this. But I think I need to get him to the vet tomorrow as today I have noticed him sneezing a couple of times and a couple of bubbles from his nose over the past day or two but it’s not constant so I’m hoping I’ve caught a resp infection early! Any tips are more then welcome!

RIs are usually caused by low temps. Warmer temps will usually "cure" the problem when caught early.
