I tried doing a search but didn’t see anything about this!

I saw somewhere that elephant grass needs to be offered in limited quantities because it can have high protein levels. Is this true? Does anyone have any research or info about this?

@peridot These are live links for
Elephant grass (Pennisetum purpureum)

FYI most protein analysis is done by measuring nitrogen content, then multiplying that by 6.25 (https://people.umass.edu/~mcclemen/581Proteins.html) to see the 'crude protein content' .

It has come to be my understanding this often overestimates the protein content, because fertilized crops have free nitrogen in them, the "N" part of the NPK most often listed on fertilizer packaging.
