I read that it's important for turtles to have the opportunity to dry off completely during basking to prevent fungal growth. Any idea how long it takes to dry off? My turtle (RES) will bask 20 minutes here, 7 minutes there, sometimes longer sometimes shorter, for a total of about 2 hours a day. I wonder if it gets to dry off completely or not. How common is it to bask across multiple shorter sessions vs continuously for hours?

Under proper basking lamp, it doesn’t take so long for your turtle to dry off; I never timed with stopwatch or anything but it is relatively short time.
Naturally dorsal area, such as carapace, top of head etc, dries in no time.
It is important to make sure that underside of your turtle, like plastron, under side of carapace, armpits, leg pits, folded skin etc, doesn’t stay wet.
I personally prefer basking area made of stone or wood for that reason. Plastic material tend to stay wet longer.

Good point about the plastron! I use Zilla Terrarium Liners for my basking area. They are supposedly "absorbent" so hopefully that's fine. She also has to climb up a foot long ramp to reach the basking area, so hopefully that helps dry off her plastron even more :)
