About 4 months ago I agreed to foster a 30 year old 60 pound male Sulcata named Stanley. In 2019 the Riverside Dept. of Animal Services found him wandering the streets (paperwork available) before he was adopted by a retired police officer and fellow tortoise enthusiast. He's pretty independent and can be trained to eat in a designated area. Also I think someone in his youth may have hand fed him a lot as he will look at your hands frequently during feeding time.
He's not big on being touched but will put up with the occasional head scratch. Why find him a new home? I don't have the space he requires and my home rehab projects could put him in danger (i.e. swimming pool rehab and landscaping).
He comes with an igloo style dog house, shows signs of pyramiding, and sustained an injury to the rear of his shell early in life but it doesn't slow him down. Bermuda grass hay makes up most of his daily diet but like all Sulcatas he'll happily try whatever you put in front of him.
