I lost both of my cats last year. I must always have a cat, so thru methods that don't matter now, I ended up with a 33 lb. long haired Maine Coon mixed with Norwegian Forest Cat. He is a beautiful tuxedo.

But he has one habitat that is driving me insane. He has the biggest poop a cat has ever produced. But he doesn't dig a hole or cover his large poop up. He lays a huge log on top of the litter, then gets out of the box and rubs his rectom on the carpet. Just like a wormy dog, he rubs his *** across the carpet. OMG! He leaves a smear on the rug. I mean this is no shrinking violet here. This is a cat who is bigger than your average Beagle. Cat people...can I break him of this habit so gross...his name is Simon

He is gorgeous....
My boy takes some wicked dumps.
Sometimes (I believe) out of spite. He is definitely jealous. My cat is a rescue btw.
Be thankful dude!
If I’m caring for the baby tortoise, after I’ve already cleaned up his litter box, he will purposely poop more.....cats ?

Can I first take a moment to appreciate "he lays a huge log"? ?
I have a friend who's cat never covers his logs...in trying to figure out why, we read that it can be a dominance thing? They will also rub their (while we're on the topic of great vocabulary!) anal glands on things to mark territory. Maybe he smells your other cats old scents?

I know that your monster Coon cat isnt spraying, but ive heard from cat folks that this product “helps” break a cat from bad habits.....

It might be that he needs his anal glands expressed. You can do it, but it's such an odious job, I'd take him to a vet to have it done.

Feliway works for some cats and is absolutely useless for others. It works for some of my Cat-mittee, so we use it in diffuser form around the house.

Anal glands smell god awful!!! I am a groomer and we have to do this from time to time. Like she said, you COULD do it, but external expression is not great for the glands or the muscles surrounding it. It can make the muscles fatigue and if you don't know what you are doing you could rupture the gland itself. A vet will do it internally with much less harm to the gland itself and it will also empty it out more than externally. Plus you don't have to be the bad guy for a pi$$ed off cat.

What’s the problem? His crap is in the box! Mine puts all four feet in the box and hangs his a$$ over the edge! Won’t even go near covered boxes! I second the A$$holes!
I don't use litter pans. I buy plastic storage bins that are high-sided. It solves that problem without a lid.

But one of my cats also will not cover it up. I keep telling him that he was a stray, and he could be one again! :) He seems to know I wouldn't do it.
