Today I attempted to line my table with a rubble sack to protect the wood from the moist substrate. It was possible but it's untidy and doesn't look great with tape holding it on etc.

Tonight I've had a go at making a mock up of a one piece liner, my initial thought is to try and replicate this using a pond liner. I've mapped out a scale copy of the tank using some card.

If anyone has done this previously please link me to your thread or post pics below!

Here are the steps I've taken so far! The only tricky/weak spot is the hide arch, need to have a think about that bit although I don't think it will be too problematic if it's not completely wrapped.

I use the self stick linoleum squares to line the bottom and sides of my tortoise's wooden enclosure. I bought mine from Home Depot. Just make sure that the wood does not have debris on it. I also warm the linoleum squares up in the sun for a while which makes it easier to apply them.

I used pond liner from lowes and basically folded in the corners - but I didn't plan it as well as you did. I ended up using an industrial stapler to keep it up w/stainless steel staples and will be putting a plastic covering from Home Depot over the staples to make it look neater.enclosure 2.jpg

One trick to use where your liner meets the enclosure to help with both looks & operations, is to use a nice piece of trim molding all around the folded seam. Fold the liner, then use the molding all around that edge. It keeps things tidy, makes a good solid nailer and holds up well. Molding is easy to cut and apply, no fancy cutting. Cheap as well.

Thanks Maro2Bear!

I'm currently scratching my head about the cut-out for the entrance to the main covered section, I want to mainly protect the floor from the moisture but also don't want the possibility of Norman slipping down the gap. Do you think if I cut a flap and wrap it around and then seal in place with a strong double-sided tape that would work?

As with any succesful project I'd like to measure twice and only cut once! I can get hold of a 2.5x1.5m pond liner for less than £15 so I'm not overly concerned about the cost, but I don't like to waste things!
