Hello all!

Anyone own these? I can't find a reliable care sheet and habitat recommendation. Many people say they are mostly terrestrial and some people say they are half aquatic half land. Any comments?

Terrestrial. Supply a clay plant saucer in the enclosure for water. They will self soak in it. And keep the humidity high. They will succumb if not. You want the enclosure a mix of sphagnum moss, dead leaves, peat and LOTS of cover for them.....

I adopted a 2 year old spengleri female and she doesn’t move much. Had her for several weeks now. shejust sits in one spot all day. Is this normal?

Is she eating? When I had mine they were nuts for earth worms and needed lots of humidity with a water source nearby, like a waterfall. I kept my male separate from my females and fed them primarily earth worms. Has she been doing any more movement?

I’ve found, and been told by my mentor, that most will be shy for a while when in a new environment. How long depends on each turtle. That said, I have also found that an enclosure too large will scare them as well. I had to really reduce size to get a male I keep to feel comfortable. I went from a 2’x3’x2’ to a 15”x22”x14”(which I still feel is very small!). Both very well planted with live and dead leaves, sphagnum moss, ec.... I now see him begging for food daily.
Might give that a try if it’s a larger enclosure?

I don't know about the larger enclosure if he is doing well as it is. Good news that he is eating so well. Thanks for the update.

They are really shy and stay unmoved after they get to a new environment. But as long as they lift their heads, that possibly the symbol of their good health condition,
