Hello,

Just wanted to say "Hi!" and I'm glad I found you all. So much material to read and so much expertise.

I'm a new keeper of a spur-thighed tortoise (testudo graeca) hatched on September 11 2019 and we have named it Donatello (Donny if it turns out to be a boy or Donna if female)

It's been a nervy first few days waiting to see the little one start to eat after the move and yesterday, it happened. Our little one started tearing into some kale and was also nibbling at the cuttlebone.

I look forward to being a part of this forum

Hi and welcome, I'm in the UK (Wales) too and this forum has been invaluable in keeping my leopard happy and healthy.
Have you found the caresheet yet? That will tell you about temps, humidity, diet etc

Don't buy too much at pet shops without checking here first, because they rarely give up to date advice, and often sell unnecessary and unsafe equipment. So members here could save you a lot of money on unsuitable equipment and vet bills.
If you can post a pic of your initial set up for your new baby then you can get tailored made advice for any improvements you could make - we all make mistakes to start with but members here can help you get it right.
This is also a great help https://tortoiseforum.org/threads/beginner-mistakes.45180/
Obviously we have to make do with shop bought veg until the weeds come back and if you have an Aldi near you they are doing bags of mixed salad leaves for 45p at the moment ) dark green packaging and have a good mix of leaves. Florette classic crispy is also a good mix of leaves, and I think Lidls have a cheaper alternative of the same mix. Kale is OK occasionally as part of a varied diet. www.thetortoisetable.org.uk is a good guide to what to feed.
Enjoy reading all the information and if you have any questions there is always someone around to ask.
