We are literally surrounded by the fires. We're right in the middle of all four of them, but my place is safe and out of harm's way for the moment. The wind was pushing the closest one away from us and also blowing the smoke out to sea. We almost wouldn't even know there was a problem if we weren't watching the news. Several friends in the area had close calls and had to evacuate. Its getting really difficult to help people anymore. The Sheriffs and CHP simply she down all the roads causing massive gridlock every where, and then refuse to let anyone get in to help the places in danger. Then SCE shuts the power off so that people are fiddling around with generators and gasoline in an effort to power their well pumps for water. We've got to mange these tings better.

My biggest problem is that SCE shut the power off at 10am yesterday and won't turn it back on. Luckily for my tortoises we had a hot night last night, which is unusual for late October. I can run a generator to cover some stuff on the ranch but you remember how spread out all the tortoise boxes are. I can't power the whole ranch for days on end with my current generator plan. Time for an upgrade it seems.

Thanks for checking on me! :)
